Alphabet Activities: Letter Cc Cake Mix Game
To say my students liked this game would be an understatement! They were begging to play it again for small group the rest of the week—yay, for small victories! I introduced this game after introducing the letter C to reinforce recognizing the letter C. To play this game you will need: an empty cake mix box, a mixing bowl, a mixing spoon, letter manipulatives (lots of letter C’s!), and a big imagination! To play the game you simply have a child remove a letter from the cake mix box and ask them to identify it. If the letter is a C, the student puts it into the mixing bowl and stirs it around. While stirring the group sings: (tune of row, row your boat) stir, stir, stir the batter. Stir it round and round. Just the right ingredient the letter C you found! After all of the letter C’s have been found I let the children pretend to crack eggs into the bowl and we stir the batter one more time before we pretend to bake the cake. After we pretend to bake the cake I spoon out a letter C for everyone and we have a great time pretending to eat our delicious letter C cake! This is a simple and fun way to learn to recognize the letter C and my students loved getting to bake with their imaginations!
